Adding Permissions with Manage Relationships
Some sites allow family members to act on your behalf (such as allowing your spouse to complete medical authorizations after surgery) or for you to act on others (such as a parent making a doctor’s appointment for a child). Permissions allow you to control who can do this. You can add and edit permissions with the Manage Relationships feature.
Important: myAuth allows you to authorize individuals to act on YOUR behalf. Others can authorize you to act on THEIR behalf. Sponsors can view their own information as well as dependent information. Be mindful that these authorizations remain active until they expire or the authorizing individual revokes them within the myAuth Companion application.
- On the myAuth dashboard page, click Manage Relationships. A new browser tab will open.
- Click Manage Relationships. The Relationships screen displays.
- The Relationships screen lists the eligible family member(s) to whom you can grant access to your records or to act on your behalf. These permissions only apply to sites that pertain to medical care and accept relationship-based permissions. If you granted permissions to your spouse, you will also see people that your spouse can act on. To allow a spouse or eligible family member to view your information, click Add Permission under People who can act on my behalf. Important: Permissions can only be added for users who have a myAuth account.
- Choose a name from the drop-down list. Only eligible family members will be shown.
- Select a Permission type from the drop-down list. Clinical access authorizes full access to medical records for that individual. Non-Clinical access only applies to dependents under the age of 18.
- Click Save to set the permission.
- To allow a spouse to view your dependents’ information, click Add Spouse Permission under People my spouse can act on and repeat steps 4-6.
- Click Finish to exit the screen.
